How you keep the engine running with us

As a Paint & Coating Specialist, you will work within our Defense operations at the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) base in Volkel or Leeuwarden.

In this role, you are responsible for the preparation, application, inspection and repair of coatings on military aircraft, aircraft structures and components. Your craftsmanship is essential: the right surface treatment not only determines the appearance of an aircraft, but also protects its structure against corrosion, wear and demanding operational conditions.

You work hands-on with the aircraft and its components, performing everything from surface preparation to applying primers and topcoats. You follow technical instructions and aviation quality standards to ensure every job is completed accurately and safely.

As a Fokker Services Group colleague, you will work closely with technicians and specialists within the maintenance teams at the Air Base. This gives you the opportunity to combine your coating expertise with a unique working environment in Dutch Defense aviation.

As Paint & Coating Specialist, you will:

  • Prepare and apply primer, topcoat and other protective coating systems to military aircraft and aircraft components
  • Inspect existing coatings and identify damage, wear, corrosion or other defects
  • Repair and renew paint layers, markings, decorations and lettering
  • Prepare surfaces by sanding, filling, cleaning, degreasing, masking and demasking
  • Prepare and mix paint products according to approved technical instructions
  • Apply coatings using professional spray equipment and hand spray guns
  • Perform measurements and checks, including paint viscosity and coating quality
  • Work according to technical drawings, maintenance documentation and applicable work instructions
  • Perform quality inspections on your own work and contribute to quality checks within the team
  • Maintain and clean spray equipment, tools and the working environment
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas on the preparation and execution of maintenance activities
  • Work closely with Aircraft Structure Technicians and other maintenance specialists to deliver aircraft safely and on time

How you are valuable to us

You are a skilled and precise professional who takes pride in delivering a high-quality finish. You understand that in aviation, coating is about much more than appearance: your work contributes directly to protecting valuable aircraft structures and maintaining their condition.

You work accurately, follow technical procedures and take responsibility for the quality of your work. At the same time, you are flexible, proactive and enjoy being part of a technical team.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A relevant technical or vocational education (LBO/MBO level), preferably in painting, coating, surface treatment or a related technical discipline
  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in aviation, automotive, industrial coating or another technical environment
  • Experience with professional spray painting and surface preparation
  • Knowledge of preparation techniques such as sanding, filling, degreasing and masking
  • The ability to read technical drawings, instructions and documentation
  • Sufficient technical English to understand aviation documentation and communicate within the working environment
  • A precise, quality-focused and safety-conscious way of working
  • A proactive and flexible attitude with a strong sense of responsibility

Experience within aviation or military aircraft maintenance is an advantage, but experience from industries such as automotive, rail, marine or high-quality industrial coating can also provide an excellent foundation for this role.

Are you at the beginning of your career but do you have the right technical background and motivation? We would also like to hear from you and explore the possibilities for developing your skills within Fokker Services Group.
